Ruth created the album Awake North Wind from songs she had written from the ages of 16 to 21.
Working with Merv and Merla Watson in the late '60s in the Catacomb's Club in Toronto, Ruth became a popular singer/songwriter in that circle of young Charismatic Christians who wanted to change the world. Finally, after many requests, Ruth started a trio in the '70s called "North Wind". Its purpose was to record an LP for friends and fans.
Awake North Wind was born as an indie album that soon sold out and received airplay in the US and Canada. It is now considered a vintage LP and a collector's item selling in some circles for over $700. Ruth decided to release the LP in digital format for all to enjoy once more.
